New York synthpop project Primitive Heart has shared the video for Steady (Vile Remix), premiered by Post-Punk.com on 13 October 2026. The original Steady and its remix both appear on Colours, the project’s second album, which is up for pre-order on Bandcamp ahead of its 13 November 2026 release.
Primitive Heart is the synth-pop project of producer and visual artist Dani Mari. Her airy, haunting vocals float over sparse, nostalgic electronics, and her own site points fans of Chromatics, Still Corners and Drab Majesty her way.
The remix was written and produced by New York artist Vile Sanchez, who pulls the song into her own electronic territory. The original Steady was produced by Rosana Cabán (Psychic Twin, Cosas Cosas) and Mari, with Cabán engineering and mixing.
Alice Teeple and Matthew Deegan directed the video; Teeple also shot it and Deegan styled it. Mari, Deegan and Vile lounge around in extravagant outfits, eating grapes, drinking bubbly in a bathtub and dancing, in a string of avant-garde vignettes.
Teeple names Leigh Bowery, Klaus Nomi, Bob Fosse’s dancers and aloof 1950s and ’60s fashion shoots as the starting points. “In a world of oversaturation, overstimulation, and oversharing, there’s something far more intriguing about leaving behind a beautiful mystery.”
Colours runs to ten tracks: five songs, Colours, Underground, Slingshot, Fake and Steady, plus five remixes by Jorja Chalmers (Italians Do It Better), Fawns of Love, Chasms (Felte), Trovarsi and Vile Sanchez. Colours, Underground and Slingshot can already be heard on Bandcamp, and the album is coming on vinyl as well.
