Montreal dark synthwave producer Das Mörtal has released DRAIN ME, a two-track single on Lisbon Lux Records out since 30 September 2026. The package pairs the original with a remix by Dan Terminus and leads into the mini-album DECVY I, due on 29 October.
Das Mörtal is the project of Cristóbal Cortes, who started out in Berlin and now works from Montréal. His sound folds German techno, occult electro and Italo disco into horror- and sci-fi-tinged synthwave, and Side-Line notes a catalogue that already includes Parasite & Ghost (June 2026), the Bury the Sorrow and Hotline Miami II EPs, and the Miami Beach Witches album.
Cortes describes DRAIN ME as “a track about the feeling of running in circles in the health care system while being drained from the multiple tests one person might go through.” On Bandcamp the credits list him as composer, lyricist and producer, with Louis-Joseph Cliche mixing, Gabriel Meunier mastering, and Dan Terminus on the additional remix.
The original opens on a sweeping tone before a techno-leaning rhythm and arpeggiated synth plucks take over, with washed-out vocals and a half-time break ahead of the final chorus. Dan Terminus answers with chopped vocals, punchy percussion and occasional violin over a bass line that mixes acoustic and synthesised low end.
An official teaser is up on Das Mörtal’s YouTube channel; full-track uploads so far are Topic-only. Stream and buy links below, plus Side-Line’s write-up.
