Two weeks after Italo-disco in San Francisco lit up these pages, Purwien & Kowa deliver the whole thing. Sechs, the Dortmund-based German-Swiss duo’s sixth studio album, is out on 23 October 2026 via Town And Towers Records, on Bandcamp, digitally and on CD.
Olaf Wollschläger produced the eleven tracks. Christian Purwien handles vocals and lyrics, Thomas Kowa the synthesizers, and the pair wrote almost everything together.
Two songs reach back into their past. Hinter Glas, the advance single whose official video sits above, was written by Andreas Sippel and Purwien for Second Decay, Purwien’s former band. Eyes of Aragon comes from Kowa’s old band No Comment.
Around them: the supersonic Concorde in a 12″ mix, Bandit 2000, Gravity, System, We’re Wrong and Irgendwas ist immer. Italo-disco in San Francisco opens the album in German and returns near the end in English, and the closer Me and My Synthex is the one track where Kowa joins Purwien at the microphone – a love song to an Italian synthesizer.
The band’s own Bandcamp notes place the record somewhere between 80s nostalgia, ironic self-destruction and the desperate attempt to finally write a hit, and sum it up as an album about love, loss, system critique, synthesizers and caviar on airplanes.
Purwien and Kowa also record as Heldautomat, whose album Zwischen den Lichtern arrives the same week, and they run the Disko80 podcast between the two projects.
