Two albums in one year, and the second one arrived without a label in sight. The Rorschach Garden, the Bielefeld project Philipp Münch started back in 1988, released Contact on 31 October 2026 through its own Rorschach Garden Records page on Bandcamp.
It lands barely seven months after Trust The Process, which came out on Ant-Zen in April. Contact is digital only and name-your-price: ten songs plus a bonus track, just under 45 minutes in all.
The tracklist runs “pitch black”, “not made for this world”, “star medicine”, “i empower you”, “starcall”, “one step”, “the plan”, “done!”, “a lazy day” and “broadcast”. The bonus is “radio”, a cover of “Radio” by Nichts, the Düsseldorf Neue Deutsche Welle and punk band, whose original dates from 1981.
Barbara Teichner, Münch’s long-standing collaborator in the project, adds the small details: toy piano on “starcall”, a Microphonic Soundbox on “one step” and a Kaoss Pad II on the closing cover.
The project began between ambient, industrial and the avant-garde, went quiet in 1997 and came back in 2001 with a turn towards synthpop and minimal electro. German webzine Medienkonverter hears that same mix on Contact, minimal synth, wave and electropop with plenty of eighties charm, and picks “not made for this world” as the track to start with.
