Swedish duo Octolab released Waiting for a better ending on 9 October 2026. It is their first album for Rexius Records: ten tracks in about 40 minutes.
Octolab are Arielle Andersson and Fredrik Lundvall Kindsäter, based in Lysekil on Sweden’s west coast. Their sound mixes darkwave, dark synthpop and cinematic electro, with heavy basslines and 1980s-style synth melodies under Arielle’s controlled vocals.
The album gathers the singles of recent years, from Afternoon Avenue (2022) and Friend or Foe and Silence of the City (2024) to this year’s Flames, Beverly and Words from a Stranger. Four more tracks complete the set: On the Edge of Nothing, No Remorse, Troll and Chasing Omen.
Rexius Records sums the result up as “danceable darkness without losing emotional weight”, as quoted by Side-Line.
The video above is the official clip for Words from a Stranger. Arielle writes and produces the band’s own videos, and the visuals have long been part of Octolab, a duo whose debut album The Timeless Room dates back to 2007.
