KABBEL, the project of French artist Gregory Hoepffner, released Fiction Clouds on 14 October 2026. It is the third single from his debut album When The War Is Over, due on 30 October through Music of the Void, the label run by Perturbator.
Hoepffner calls it “a nocturnal ’80s synth pop production on steroids” and says the song is about minority stress in the LGBTQ+ community: “the anxiety felt around potential or lived discrimination, rejection, or bullying.” His aim was simple. “I wanted it to feel like a dangerous dance.”
Lars Stalfors, known for his work with HEALTH and TR/ST, mixed the track, and Maurizio Baggio mastered it at La Distilleria.
The video was directed by cinematographer Corentin Schieb. In it a younger KABBEL double is caught in a looping, liminal prison, trading lives with his older self while his own band members seem to hold him there.
Fiction Clouds follows Reward, the lead single featuring Perturbator, which came out on 2 September, and Elephant on 23 September. When The War Is Over has ten tracks, with Imer6ia guesting on Afterlife, and was performed, composed and produced by Hoepffner himself.
