Maxwell’s Complex, the synthpop project of Christopher M. Rose, released the nine-track album Life With Ghosts on 2 November 2026. The official video for the title track went up in mid-October, ahead of the album.
The album is billed as “nine stories about memory, friendship, loss, and the peculiar persistence of earlier versions of ourselves.” It moves between memory and invention, melancholy and humour, electronic precision and what the Bandcamp notes call “unapologetic synth pop.”
Expect old friends, first loves, missed exits, second chances, machines with feelings and at least one ghost. As the notes put it, “Some of it may even have happened.” The cover plays along, pairing a teenager with a bedsheet ghost in front of a wall of vinyl.
The tracklist runs from “The Lucky Ones” and “Breathless” through “Kiss You In The Rain (Again)” and “She Fell In Love (With Electricity)” to the closer “Neon Blue”.
Rose wrote, performed and produced every song himself. Tim Fisk, Anna Kelly and Johanna Hammer add vocals, and the album was mastered by Brian Hazard at Resonance Mastering.
Maxwell’s Complex has been releasing music since 2012’s First Transmission. Apple Music lists Control (2014) as the previous full-length album, followed by the Beautiful + Broken EP and a run of singles, the latest being Won’t End the Year Alone at the end of 2024.
