Dublin has a new synthpop record to dance to. Six-piece Dash! released their debut album Speedbump on 30 October 2026, and took it to LoSt LaNe on Grafton Street for a fancy-dress launch party the following night, with Sir Marmalade and Vulture Fun on the bill.
The band call what they do high-energy new wave synth pop, and the back story is pure pop mischief: they claim to have come down to Earth from “Space Place” in search of intergalactic fun, found mostly sorrow and high rents, and started a band instead.
Formed in 2023, Dash! quickly became regulars on Dublin’s DIY scene, supporting acts like The Restarts, The Gakk and The Deadlians and running their own monthly gigs through 2024 to give other unsigned bands a stage.
Speedbump runs to ten tracks, opening with the six-minute “Taroudant” and taking in “Dublin”, “Bog Song”, “Run into You”, “Whiskey Inferno”, “Winter of ’16” and closer “Lifeboat”.
It also gathers up second single “Dressed for Darkness”, all driving bassline and stark rhythm. Its video, above, was directed and edited by Roxanne Goetz and Caoimhe Lavelle, with a cast of Dublin goths and vampires along for the ride.
The line-up is Roxanne Goetz on lead vocals and keys, Mick Donohoe on lead vocals and bass, Del Godson on drums, Caoimhe Lavelle on guitar, and Sheila Lafferty and Aileen Curtin on vocals. The album is out digitally and as a limited 12-inch on transparent pink vinyl.
