Thirty-four years after it first came out, Wolfsheim‘s debut album No Happy View is finally coming to vinyl. Strange Ways Records, the label that released it in 1992, presses the record on LP for the first time on 4 December 2026.
There are two editions: a standard black LP, and a limited, numbered run of 1,000 copies on splatter vinyl.
No Happy View is where the classic duo of Peter Heppner on vocals and Markus Reinhardt on keyboards began. Produced and mastered by Carlos Perón, its eleven tracks sit right where darkwave meets synthpop: cool electronics, melancholic pads and Heppner’s unmistakable voice.
The album carries The Sparrows and the Nightingales, the 1991 debut single that became one of the band’s best-known songs and a classic of the alternative and electronic scene. Following You and It’s Not Too Late are other highlights on a tracklist that opens with …Can Manage… and closes with Listen!
The debut set up everything that followed, from Popkiller and Dreaming Apes to Spectators and the chart-topping Casting Shadows. The band has been inactive since 2005 but was never officially disbanded, and Markus Reinhardt has since recorded as Renard.
