Danish synthpop duo SoftWave have released Through Open Eyes (Black Nail Cabaret Remix), out on 16 October 2026. It is the third and final single ahead of their remix album things we’ve remixed, due on 23 October 2026.
The remixers are Black Nail Cabaret, the Budapest duo of Emese “Emke” Árvai-Illés and Krisztián Árvai. Side-Line hears them giving the song a darker, more atmospheric edge than the original. The link runs deeper than a remix swap: Jerry Olsen told ElectricityClub.co.uk that Catrine had been writing a lot with Black Nail Cabaret, which made them an obvious name to ask.
The original Through Open Eyes is track seven on SoftWave’s second album, things we’ve done, released on 13 October 2023. It is a song about toxic devices, passing trends and faked faces, built around one plain wish in the chorus: “Let them all see the world through open eyes.”
things we’ve remixed gathers nine remixes from Denmark, Sweden, Germany, Scotland, Greece and Hungary. Cicero reworks Wake Up, Aspra, the solo project of Marsheaux’s Sophia Sarigiannidou, takes on Supernova, and Octolab adds a second take on Through Open Eyes. Vainerz, Antilles, SACKI and Diskodiktator complete the list, alongside a SoftWave remix of This World.
It keeps a habit the duo started early. Together Alone The Remixes followed their debut EP in 2017, Game On 1Up followed their debut album in 2019, and now things we’ve done gets its own companion. “We didn’t really choose the remixers from a list – we chose them from our journey,” Catrine Christensen said. “That’s why things we’ve remixed feels almost like a musical scrapbook of the past decade.”
SoftWave are Catrine Christensen on vocals and lyrics and Jerry Olsen on synths and production, together since 2014. They opened for OMD on the Scandinavian dates of the Souvenir tour in 2020, and they are already writing their third studio album, which Catrine calls their main focus going into 2027.
