Belgian synthpop pioneers Telex have gone back to where it all started. Maxi Twist À Saint-Tropez, a new extended version of their 1978 debut single, came out on Mute on 3 November 2026, following “Maxi Moskow Diskow” as the second preview of MAXI, a collection of new Maxi Versions due on 4 December 2026.
“Twist À Saint-Tropez” was Telex’s electronic cover of Les Chats Sauvages’ 1960s hit, and the original single is the record that first brought the Brussels trio wider recognition. The new mix stretches it to five and a half minutes, and the clip on Mute’s YouTube channel pairs it with pink Telex logo animations and the three members in matching white suits.
For MAXI, surviving members Dan Lacksman and Michel Moers went back to the original tapes and built new Maxi Versions of the band’s best-loved songs, with new mastering and updated mixes. In Mute’s own words, the album “stays true to what we know and love about Telex… so no need for the usual remix debate.”
The 13 tracks cover the years 1978 to 2006, from “Moskow Diskow” through “Rock Around The Clock”, “L’Amour Toujours” and “Rendez-Vous Dans L’Espace” to the band’s Eurovision entry and “We Are All Getting Old”. The digital single of “Maxi Twist À Saint-Tropez” also carries “Maxi Moskow Diskow”.
MAXI arrives on double transparent red and blue vinyl and on CD, with a digital release to follow in 2027. Telex were formed in Brussels in 1978 by Marc Moulin, Dan Lacksman and Michel Moers, and retired the name after Moulin’s death in 2008. Their partnership with Mute began in 2021 with the compilation This Is Telex and remastered reissues of the catalogue.
