Oslo’s Modulo One closed October with a darker turn. The Door, out on 31 October 2026, is what the band itself calls “a dark electro / futurepop song kinda like a… ballad with a beat?”
True to that description it takes its time, sitting at 102 bpm in F minor, and every part of it, from music and lyrics to production and vocals, is credited to Anders Schau Knatten.
The lyric is short and unsettling. It starts with a look “across your face I haven’t seen before” and ends with the narrator deciding “to lock you up behind that door”.
The single comes with an instrumental version and follows two very different releases this year: the melodic futurepop of “Closer to the Sun” in March, and “Arrival” in September, a one-off house, trance and space-disco piece made for a demoscene event.
That scene is where Modulo One started out. The Norwegian demoscene still runs through the project, from a 2024 set at Black Valley, the country’s biggest demoscene event, to remixes by their friend and fellow demoscener Bitbear.
