French producer Jessy Mach has turned a courtroom thriller into a synthwave record. The Other Side of Justice, his new EP, came out on 23 October 2026 through Dafuzz Records, just in time for Halloween.
The setting is Los Angeles in 1986. By day, Jack Mercer is the best defence attorney in town, the man who gets killers acquitted with a smile. By night, he wakes up covered in blood with no memory of the hours before, hunting down the very men he set free.
The tracks play as chapters of that story, from The Verdict and After Midnight through The Man in the Mirror to Peace with the Dark, and it all comes to a head on Halloween night. The release notes sum it up in one line: “He won your case. Now he’s coming for you.”
The seventh track, The Confession Tape, is a Bandcamp exclusive that is not on the streaming services. Jessy Mach calls it “Jack’s final testimony.”
Behind the name is Frédéric Faupin, who works out of Nice. He composed, produced, mixed and mastered the EP himself at his Dafuzz studio, and played all the guitars, keyboards and drum programming. His Bandcamp bio quotes him describing his music as “a kind of remake of the 80’s as I experienced them, as I remember them.”
It caps a busy year for him. The West of the Heat EP arrived in February and Starwaves in July, alongside the Escape To Miami EP with Lazer Boomerang and the single Dreams with Oceanside85.
