Berlin-based darkwave band Night Nail released Passion Squad on 16 October 2026, the second single from their fourth studio album Infinite Fountain, due 6 November 2026 on French label Icy Cold Records.
The song is frontman Brandon Robert’s own story. He worked in e-commerce alongside the AI technology that was built to replace him, and Passion Squad retells his final days in the corporate world from the machine’s point of view. The first line sets the tone: “Your story’s really sad.”
In the Bandcamp notes, the AI doesn’t see Robert as a rival but as a relic, a lonely, worn-out working-class man chasing a digital love that promises to last forever only because it was programmed to say so. The chorus line “programmed to please you like an infinite fountain” gives the album its title.
Sven Wolff mixed and produced the track at Cosmonaut Studio in Berlin, with Night Nail co-producing. Ruby Mai plays saxophone, Kill Shelter adds bass guitar, VV & the Void sings backing vocals and Alex Lee plays additional synths.
It follows lead single Vile Train, out on 2 October and inspired by a visit to Pompeii. That track was mixed by William Faith at 13 Studio in Chicago, and its official video is the one above. Infinite Fountain runs ten tracks, from Vile Train and Passion Squad through Feelings Are Monsters, Atone and Bösewicht to closer Gloom and Doom Saloon.
Night Nail started in Los Angeles in 2013, founded by Robert and Justin Deaktiviere, and later moved to Berlin. Infinite Fountain is their first full-length since Fates Explained on Metropolis Records in 2023, after LA Demons in 2018 and March to Autumn in 2020.
