Scottish trio CHVRCHES are back with All The King’s Men, their fifth album and their first since Screen Violence in 2021. It arrives on 22 January 2027 via Futures Music Group, and pre-orders are open now.
The eleven-track record opens with Roses, the lead single that came out on 22 September. Its official lyric video sits at the top of this post. The rest of the tracklist runs Evil, Adore You, Overthinker, Royal Blue, Comedown Tomorrow, Friend Of A Friend, Three Out Of Five, Conman, Jamie’s Prayer and Faith In Flying.
Lauren Mayberry, Iain Cook and Martin Doherty took a break after their 2023 tour. Where that album was written remotely, this one came together over several intensive three-week sessions in Glasgow, according to NME.
Expect a change of colour. Press coverage describes a sharper, more guitar-driven palette with more acoustic instruments, and lyrics that look at British and Scottish history and identity after the band’s years spent in the US. Pitchfork lists Massive Attack, PJ Harvey, Nick Drake, Bert Jansch and the Incredible String Band among the touchstones.
Two intimate benefit shows come first, in Glasgow on 26 October and London on 29 October. The full tour starts in Philadelphia on 13 February 2027, crosses North America through mid-March, and wraps up in the UK and Ireland, ending at London’s O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire on 6 May.
