Just in time for Halloween, Baltes & Zäyn have unleashed Bride of Frankenstein, a new tech-noir electro single out on 31 October 2026 via Echozone, with an official animated video to match.
The song riffs on the mad-scientist trope of James Whale’s 1935 Universal film of the same name, the sequel to his 1931 “Frankenstein.” It follows the duo’s kaiju-meets-Metropolis single “Neogodzilla vernichtet Metropolis,” released in March, and keeps them firmly in horror and science-fiction territory.
Its roots go back a long way. Zäyn wrote the lyrics in 1988; the instrumental was sketched in 2023 on a vintage Yamaha QY-700 hardware sequencer and finished by Baltes that same year. The video notes describe the result as “a lunatic fireworks display of a song,” with menacing synth riffs and a deliberately theatrical, villainous vocal.
The six-minute single tips its hat to 1980s mad-scientist novelty hits such as Oingo Boingo’s “Weird Science” and Thomas Dolby’s “She Blinded Me With Science,” and to Bobby “Boris” Pickett’s “Monster Mash.”
