The Lightning Kids have released College, a new single out on 6 November 2026 through Aztec Records and the first finished piece of their upcoming double album, Love On The Edge Of Desire (Director’s Cut).
The song is a bittersweet look back at the end of a teenage summer, when one friend leaves for college and the other stays behind. “California faded like a Polaroid,” the lyric goes, before the chorus wonders whether they will still hang out at the old arcade when they are older.
College runs 3:49. Bandcamp credits the writing of the album to Emma Ballantine Dykes, Darryn McHardie and Jonathan Spalding, with Spalding producing this track together with John Bourke.
Love On The Edge Of Desire (Director’s Cut) arrives on 20 November 2026. The album notes describe it as the double album the band originally imagined: 26 tracks of dream-pop, synthwave and Americana-inflected rock that follow adults revisiting their youth, its places and its emotions.
Alongside new songs such as Astrology and College, it gathers the earlier singles In Your Room and Gone Girl, alternative mixes, remixes, and collaborations with Kidburn, Bunny X, Luke Million and SelloRekt / LA Dreams. Pre-ordering the album on Bandcamp or iTunes unlocks College straight away.
