Belgian dark electronic project LLUMEN releases its fourth album Winter Eden on 30 October 2026 through Alfa Matrix, on CD and digital. Twelve tracks, and the label calls it Pieter Coussement’s most ambitious and emotionally compelling work to date.
LLUMEN has been Coussement’s project since 2001. He is based in Ghent, and the name is a nod to Front 242’s U-Men. Over the years he has built a sound that layers old-school EBM, gothic textures, techno and future pop, and Winter Eden follows the albums The Memory Institute, Polygon Heart and The Breaking Waves.
The record is built on contrast, with winter and Eden as opposing but linked states, moving from disorientation and detachment toward intimacy and reflection. As Coussement put it to Side-Line: “Winter Eden has become a witness to that journey, spanning the distance between who we were and where we stand now.”
The Leftovers led the way as a single on 4 September, a song about refusing to become what the system models you to be, with Between The Words on the flip side. The album opens with Adrift and runs through Away From Here, All Clouds Will Be Horses and The Gold Lined Scars before closing on Holy Tears.
LLUMEN plays live as a four-piece, and the album gets its own stage night on 20 November 2026 at mOtown in Sint-Joost-ten-Node, Belgium, in a double release party with Implant, who launch their album The Kinematics of Doubt the same evening.
