New York singer Bellevina follows her debut single “Saturday” with “You, Yourself and I”, a slow-blooming synth-pop track with a smoky, airy vocal and a lyric that changes shape the longer you sit with it.
The song is built to breathe. The verses pull back to just synth, rhythm and space, letting the words land before the chorus opens up into something bigger. It sounds polished on first listen and gives away more detail on the third. If you like Lorde, Phantogram or Men I Trust, the sensibility will feel familiar, but the voice is very much her own.
It opens like a relationship song (“Stop looking for me / Like I’m the only thing you need”), then turns inward. In Bellevina’s words: “At first listen, the song could seem like it’s about navigating difficulties within a relationship. But if you think about it more deeply, it’s about the very human fallacy of searching outside of yourself for things you can only find within. I wanted it to grow with the listener.”
“You, Yourself and I” is out now on Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, Amazon Music and the other major platforms.
