A new name on the London and Brighton underground: Iara Naga, the duo of producers Shonalika and Danny Sanchez, have released their debut single Big Fish on Gasolina Recordings, out since 22 October 2026 with an official video to match.
The pair formed the project in summer 2026 after their previous band, the London darkwave duo Death Drive, came to an end. The name comes from shape-shifting figures in Indian and Brazilian folklore, a nod to the two members’ own heritage.
Big Fish takes aim at the abuse of power inside small music scenes, where a few contacts can turn into a private kingdom. The chorus puts it bluntly: “Big fish, small pond… Shall I stroke your fragile ego?”
The sound is industrial darkwave with a synthpop, punk and EBM pulse running through it. Post-Punk.com hears a jackhammer drumbeat and bass-heavy synth waves, and names old-school Ministry and Nine Inch Nails as useful points of reference.
The duo wrote and produced the track themselves. Jack Milwaukee, who records as M!R!M, mixed and mastered it, Will Fox recorded the vocals, and the anglerfish cover art is by Angela Mak.
